Culturalista is a collaborative project that publishes the diverse voices of Australia in a printed and online zine that reaches thousands of people throughout Australia.
In the current issue of Culturalista many contributors emphasise the need for a change in Australian attitudes and perceptions to create a more humanitarian society. Politics is seen as a key realm through which this society could be realised, but equally important, if not more so, is the potential for individuals and communities to create change...

Displacement by Vesna Leto
My father walked his own path. He could do anything when he put his mind to it
but he never made it as an Australian. We knew nothing of his labour,
the strive to clothe winter's bones, his unpolished grit to join the syllables
that divided language. Without knowing
confusion yellowed his years. The gravity of cultures had sliced his moons, displacing his past and present,
returning home every second year to remind himself
of who he was and what he believed in. After forty-five years, he stands on new foundations –
the split road had reconciled under his feet.
