Culturalista is a collaborative project that publishes the diverse voices of Australia in a printed and online zine that reaches thousands of people throughout Australia.

In the current issue of Culturalista many contributors emphasise the need for a change in Australian attitudes and perceptions to create a more humanitarian society. Politics is seen as a key realm through which this society could be realised, but equally important, if not more so, is the potential for individuals and communities to create change.

Prescribing a path towards change is difficult as it takes many forms. A change in attitude is an important start, but on what level can we create change, beyond just thinking about it? A simple answer is elusive, but recognising the complexity of change can build a way forward. Climate change is an apt example.

Dealing with climate change requires collective action built on the actions of everyone. The challenge is enormous, but in just the same way climate change has become problematic, it can be stopped. Essentially, our actions create change. Areas such as Politics remain important and responsible for change, but the greatest potential for change is in our own capacity for a diversity of actions.

A change of attitude can be the beginning, but most important is the realisation that we all have the potential to take action towards a more equitable future.
